I know you've been asking, it's been the talk of the town! Where on earth does the name come from?????
Viola, here is the source:
Robert Hutchison, in an address to the British Medical Association in 1930, once said "Vegetarianism is harmless enough though it is apt to fill a [hu]man with wind and self-righteousness."
And there you have it!
Who is Robert Hutchison? He was the president of the British Pediatric Association back in 1930 (1). He was "a general physician with a special interest in nutrition and in children."(2) And apparently his "wisdom and wit educated and amused successive generations of students and doctors."(2) I guess it's appropriate that I use his quote as a springboard as I hope to educated and amuse my contemporaries.
Meet Sir Robert
